There are many possible walks in the area, don’t miss popular Pucks Glen Walk a magnificent forest walk immediately behind the lodge, it’s a ‘must-do’ Other great local walks are along the west side of Loch Eck from Glenbranter to the Younger Botanical Garden or through to Kilmun Arboretum .
There are many other interesting Forest walks in the area, from a brief stroll to a real challenge.
The famous Benmore Botanic Gardens is only five minutes by car towards Loch Eck or a pleasant short stroll from the lodge. You can take dogs around the gardens on a lead . There are also plenty of other Gardens of Argyll to explore.
Cycling and Mountain Biking
There are a variety of circuits in the Argyll Forest Park, varying from classics like the forest road circuit of Loch Eck, to state of the art single track: try Glenkin and Glenbranter.
For something a bit more adventurous Quadmania has a variety of activities including a great way to explore the hills on guided quadbike treks.

Fishing: sea, river and loch are all available locally, Dunoon Angling Club can advise on the best places and provide permits.
The Riverside pool in Dunoon town centre is a popular choice or try the thrill of the River Rocket based at the Holy Loch Marina or check out the programme for excursions on the Waverly the world’s last sea-going paddle steamer.
Sailing is a great way to experience the highlands and islands. Why not bring your sailing boat with you, berths can be hired during your holiday from Holy Loch Marina.
A complete list of golf courses can be found at the local tourist office in Dunoon. Cowal Golf Course Dunoon is one of the 18 hole courses in the area and there are 9 hole courses at Blaimore and Innellen.

Dunoon has the usual range of shops including supermarkets ( Morrisons and Co-Op) and the Cot House Service station 5 mins away by car has a shop for essential provisions. However Cowal has a great selection of local products ranging from Winston Churchill Venison, Lochfyne Oysters and Mussels and of course Craft Beer from Fyne Ales
After all this you may need some refreshment: The cafe at Benmore Gardens is within walking distance or try a warm welcome at the lovely Inver Cottage. Why not try a ‘wee dram’ at one of the friendly local Inns , we are lucky enough to have a good choice, The Cot House is the nearest to Pucks Lodge but the The Strone Inn, The Coylet Inn , Holy Loch Inn and The Whistlefield are worth travelling to experience a warm welcome from the locals.
